Variety of IT solutions cater for courier market

Sturdy and reliable IT systems are a must in the express cargo and courier industries, says Nachi Mendelow of Compu Clearing. “This is an industry where delays cost money, and if goods don’t arrive on time, you can literally miss the boat. Therefore accurate and up-to-date tracking information and accurate billing are a fundamental requisite in this industry.” According to Mendelow, Compu-Clearing offers a variety of solutions to the local courier market. “Our first system is called FrOnT – Freight On Time – and allows for the local distribution and pick-up of goods. FrOnT operates as a hub-and-spokes system where you can define the different routes between hubs with their respective costings,” he says. “The FrOnT system works out the billing based on the different parts of the route.” It is also linked to the Compu-Clearing main debtors’ programme, which allows for a single debtor’s account over multiple systems. Aside from FrOnT, the company also offers the CargoWise Local Transport System, which allows one to enter, assign, maintain and manage local transport jobs. “You can create integrated transport jobs from the forwarding, customs, warehouse and container freight store modules or create stand-alone local transport jobs within the local transport module,” says Mendelow. “One can manage and maintain transport legs through easyto- use transport run sheets. This module also has the functionality to interface with a GPS system provider: currently, this is only integrated with Navman.”
