Demand is growing in Zambia for value-added logistics services, according to Olivier Terra, managing director of Bolloré Transport and Logistics Zambia. The company is continuing to invest in its value-added warehousing infrastructure and services in Lusaka, as well as the training of its people. Importers and exporters are realising that they do not have the expertise, systems and processes needed to minimise the cost of inventory while limiting the risk of stock shortages, he says. “Over the years we have learned to optimise processes. Our systems help clients to manage both inventory and inbound and outbound services. “It is an area in which we as Bolloré have become pretty good,” he says. Systems developed to increase productivity of the value-added services are now providing valuable information to clients. Clients can see from the data where their inventory gaps are, according to Terra.
