Although its main dealings are with SA-based forwarding businesses, there are still two parts of the Compu-Clearing freight system that can ideally be accessed by American forwarders as well, according to Nachi Mendelow, the marketing representative of Compu- Clearing Outsourcing. “We have an international airwaybill system,” he told FTW. “It is mostly aimed at our localised target market, but Compu-Clearing does integrate with forwarders’ systems and we therefore work with forwarders all over the world – including the Americas.” Because the International Air Transport Association (Iata) decided on globally unified documentation, the international airwaybill is now standardised across the world. “We have this standardised document on our www.awbproduction. com website,” Mendelow added. “And, simply by keying into the site, forwarders can print as many copies of the airwaybill as they need.” Another part of the system usable in the Americas is the Compu-Clearing warehousing software called Stash. “This,” said Mendelow, “is designed to suit small and medium-sized warehousing businesses – and offering full stock receipt, storage and distribution information. “It, like the airwaybill system, is web-based, and is easily accessible to users around the globe – again including the Americas.”
