SAFTO'S EDUCATION and training programmes have moved into the University of South Africa (Unisa) stable, following the closure of all Safto operations as from March 31.
Students who had enrolled in Safto's three-year diploma programme in export management have now been transferred to Unisa.
The Industrial Development Corporation decided in February to terminate its financial assistance to Safto and further public support for the organisation could not be found.
According to Safto chairman Izak Lessing, all outstanding client assignments had been completed by end March and Safto members were refunded for the remainder of their membership subscriptions.
Severance packages were concluded with all employees of the organisation although a few staff members have been retained in the short term to assist with finalising outstanding matters.
