INCREASED VOLUMES on Austrian Airlines Group Cargo services on its South African route played a major role in the airline showing a marked growth in its 1997 figures.
Compared with 1996, volume increased by some 6 000 tons or 9,6% to 69 250 tons.
This largely resulted from an increase in intercontinental services, especially to and from Asia, with a 54% increase and to South Africa with a 44% increase.
By forming Austrian Airlines Group Cargo, the competitiveness of the three largest Austrian airlines has shown major improvement in their collective air cargo business. The group offers worldwide interlocking services to the Austrian Airlines, Lauda Air and Tyrolean Airways cargo customers. Including road feeder services, they now reach 118 destinations on five continents.
Austrian Airlines Cargo is also one of the first companies to offer its customers worldwide 'cargo tracking by e-mail', which has simplified the continuous tracking of shipments during transportation.
