Union denies agreement on wages with Transnet

Untu president, Wyndham Evans.

The United National Transport Union (Untu) has denied allegations that a wage agreement with Transnet has been signed.

In fact, Untu president Wyndham Evans said that wage negotiations between Untu, the South African Transport and Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) and the Transnet Bargaining Council had been postponed for one more week as Satawu members had been unable to obtain mandates from their members in time.

Wage negotiations are scheduled to resume on Monday, March 19.
