SEAFREIGHT RATES from the UK have been increased - a result of the general rates increase imposed by the shipping lines.
The rates for full container load (FCL) traffic are also due to increase and these should be finalised shortly, FTW was told.
Our source added that a number of other charges in the lines’ tariffs have also been increased - highlighting, for example, a rise in the cost for “change of destination”. This is now charged at US$200 per general purpose twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) plus a US$100 documentation fee.
