ALAN PEAT
IN THE multi-purpose shipping trade, the line Galborg has just added two vessels to its service between Southern African and Mexico/USA. The two vessels are the Yellowstone and the Aalborg – respectively
31 000-tonnes and
37 000-t deadweight, each with five hatches/holds, a crane capacity of 50-t, and generous container space. The Yellowstone will enter the GAL service on a southbound voyage from Houston on March 23 with the maiden call in Cape Town due about April 27. The Aalborg dates have still to be finalised, but it is expected to join the service in April/May. Said a spokesman for SA general agents, MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping in Cape Town: “This equates to an investment into the service of close to US$30-million (R216-m).”
