SWISS-BASED NATCO International Transports is on an expansion trail and southern African growth is playing a major role.
The company set up its own office in Angola last year and is set to launch a twice monthly groupage service to the oil and diamond rich country.
Johannesburg-based managing director Patrick Durig is bullish about prospects in the region where the company has recorded buoyant figures over the past year.
“Having an own NATCO operation in Angola gives us the advantage of offering a complete door to door service. Customs clearing and delivery of cargo in Angola is handled by dedicated colleagues.”
NATCO’s long-standing ties in Angola are clearly an advantage, with its procurement company TRANSORGA playing a role in the continued growth, says Durig.
NATCO was established in Switzerland 25 years ago and set up a South African operation based in Gauteng in 1991. It has since developed a worldwide network of over 300 employees and generates US$250m annually.
A milestone for the local operation was the establishment of a Cape Town branch this year.
While project forwarding was the niche market on which the business was built, it has since developed into
a global logistics service offering complete supply chain
management solutions.
It is well served by agency agreements within Africa, finding individual solutions and covering specific needs.
