One of the Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) tugs, Xefina, recently completed her annual refit in the port’s drydock. With her sister ship Polana, she is the second of these Azimuth stern-drive tugs – both built in Japan, and each with a 36-ton bollard pull. Five crew members and a deckhand man the tugs, while the pilot boat, the Inhaca, has two crew members. After the purchase of the tugs, a training crew from Hong Kong trained the crew in Maputo.
