KEVIN MAYHEW THE GATEWAY Stop for drivers travelling through Beitbridge Border Post has added a new dimension to its service offering with the establishment of a wellness clinic. The clinic – which is part of the national transport industry effort to educate and treat sexually transmitted infections (STIs) – is yet another feature of the multimillion rand stop which provides office space for the clearing and forwarding sector. It also provides retail outlets for food, bulk products and electrical appliances. According to its manager, Heleen Naude, the clinic operates between 8am and 5pm. “We always wanted the facility to cater for a whole spectrum of driver needs and we see these two new offerings as a positive step towards making drivers’ lives a lot more comfortable on the northern route,” she explained. The truck stop has increased its parking facilities and has ablutions, fuel, mechanical maintenance facilities and a motor bonded warehouse.
