The Mozambican Ports & Rail Company (CFM), Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), Swaziland Railway and Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC), have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to improve the coordination and planning of rolling stock between the rail lines. The MOU intends to increase the efficiency of cargo rail transport, according to Soriaia Abdula, communications officer for the MPDC. The MOU includes the incorporation of a Joint Operation Centre (JOC) between the parties, which will allow the integration and efficient management of the diverse cargo flows, and optimise the performance of the port and rail system along the Maputo Corridor, according to Abula.
