Transporter reduces truck turnaround

Afocus on efficiencies is reducing truck turnaround times at J&J Africa’s facilities throughout the Beira corridor, says Chris Van Tonder, general manager of J&J Beira. “Because we are a systemsdriven group we are able to analyse the flow of cargo and trucks in our facilities to reduce dwell times. “Our mantra is ‘data beats opinions’,” he says. “With our customised fleet management system, we are able to highlight bottlenecks on the Beira Corridor which allows swift action by the J&J management team to resolve any issues and improve our service to our clients.” Van Tonder says J&J is working hand in hand with Cornelder to promote the Beira Corridor Initiative. There have been successful meetings with clients in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia during 2019, he says.
