Abnormal load specialist Frits
Kroon Transport has taken
delivery of a 160-ton multiaxle
trailer and is expecting
the horse to arrive by the end
of the month, says operations
manager, Lampie Grobler.
“The new multi-axle trailer
means we can now carry any
cargo over 100 tons as one
load,” he told FTW, adding
that earthmoving equipment,
transformers and similar now
do not need to be disassembled
at the point of departure and
reassembled at the destination.
“This saves our customers a lot
of time and manpower,” said
Grobler.
The horse and 1-axle
three-module trailer – with
two four axles and one sixaxle
set of wheels – will
be able to travel to any
destination in southern
Africa served by Frits Kroon,
which includes Angola,
Botswana, DRC, Lesotho,
Malawi, Mozambique,
Namibia, Swaziland,
Tanzania, Zambia and
Zimbabwe. “We have also
ordered a spine deck which
transforms the trailer into an
ordinary low-bed operation
when required,” Grobler
added.
