Local and UK bodies to develop
cost-effective solutions

CSIR Transportek recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the UK-based Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), an independent internationally-recognised centre of expertise in transportation research.
Both TRL and Transportek work closely with customers in the public and private transportation sectors to provide cost-effective solutions and specialist expertise.
Areas which will be pursued are: specific projects and broader initiatives in the fields of road infrastructure, traffic management and transportation; organisation of joint seminars and workshops; the development of a shared-knowledge, based on international funding and donor requirement and capacity-building of staff and clients.
Phil Hendriks, divisional director of Transportek, said he hoped this initiative would create opportunities for the two organisations to jointly develop business opportunities and to improve services to their clients, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, through the pooling of technical expertise and expert knowledge.
