Transport Minister offers some respite on driving licence renewal

In a Government Gazette notice published on March 30, the Minister of Transport has offered vehicle licence-holders some respite during the lock-down period.

“The validity period for a learner's licence, driving licence, motor vehicle licence disc, temporary permit, professional driving permit and road worthy certificates shall be deemed to be valid and shall be extended for a further grace period of 30 days from the date of expiry of a lock-down period, unless determined otherwise by the Minister,” according to the notice.

Driving licence testing centres and vehicle testing stations will remain closed during lock-down.
