Single rate for the entire journey IF YOU’RE moving cargo from Cape Town to Pietersburg, you can now pay a single rate with the launch by Transit and Airlink of their Regional Combined Service (RCS). Effective on December 4, it follows the signing of a codeshare agreement between the handling agent and carrier. “The service was developed in response to clients’ needs to move freight from a major centre to a regional centre and vice versa,” Transit managing member Tim Snell told FTW. “The RCS streamlines the operation for both the handling agent and the airline and enables the client to pay a single rate instead of two separate airline rates. “The client merely hands in the freight at any of Transit’s eleven branches, and we will do the rest.” Whether it’s Nelspruit to Bloemfontein, East London to Margate, or Richards Bay to Umtata, the company can cope with any variation, he added.
