'It's part of
company's
logistics vision'

DURBAN-BASED clearing and forwarding company Transglobal has continued its expansion trail with the acquisition of a 50% share in April of Gauteng-based warehousing group, Savglobal, owned by Savula Holdings.
According to Sugie Govender, Transglobal's chief executive officer, the buy-in complements Transglobal Cargo's commitment to providing a total logistics service in the Gauteng region. The Johannesburg office, which was motivated by the company's strong emphasis on logistics, was opened last September,.
Savglobal, under the chairmanship of Mpho Scott and with Govender as CEO, is currently involved in the warehousing, distribution and bill collections of medical supplies, including the Umbombo Medical account. The company uses the latest information systems to control the movement of cargo via web-based software, with Third Party invoicing available to customers requiring the service.
Transglobal will remain focused on the area of overseas forwarding and customs clearance, says Govender, while Savglobal's area of expertise and direction lies in warehousing, handling and distribution.
Both companies have invested heavily in software development with a full interface between the two groups and very little additional development is required.
He adds that a future area of expansion will be road transportation.
