Metro Minds has moved squarely into the digital era with the expansion of its programme portfolio to cater for fully online and digital learning. With online learning typically requiring 40 to 60% less employee time than learning in a traditional classroom setting, the new online system means fewer days out of the office, resulting in greater productivity in the workplace, says Metro Minds CEO Juliette Fourie. The company does however offer support classes with its digital platform. “This new offering also does not replace our contact class solutions where we have face-to-face engagement.” Having recently moved to a bigger and more centrally located facility in a secure office park in Westville, the company now has two fully equipped classrooms available for training in Durban, says Tanya Robertson, Metro Minds Durban branch manager. “We have also employed an additional facilitator in our Durban office with years of experience in the fields of international logistics, freight forwarding and customs,” she says. And Robertson is upbeat about job opportunities in Durban. “The Cato Ridge Logistics Hub – aimed at using rail from Durban port to Cato Ridge – will create 5000 construction jobs and 6000 permanent jobs,” she said. The new online system means fewer days out of the office, resulting in greater productivity. – Juliette Fourie
