Train and truck collision claims a life

MBABANE – A senior member of Swaziland’s freight transport industry has died in hospital following the collision of a small truck he was driving with a Swaziland Railway freight train. Stephen Gary Cooper, 67, was co-partner of Instrument and Control Systems which works with Uni Cargo Cross Border. The accident occurred at the Matsapha Industrial Estate and Cooper was reportedly headed toward his home at Tubungu Estates when he drove his vehicle onto the tracks before an oncoming train. A police spokesperson said no conclusion could yet be drawn on the circumstances or cause of death until a police investigation had been finalised.
