SOUTH AFRICA’S trade
deficit narrowed marginally
to a still massive R9.131bn
in August from R9.397bn
in July, according to latest
figures from Standard Bank.
Exports increased by
0.8% m/m in August to
R42.459bn from R42.124bn
in July, but were just not
good enough to manifest a
stronger narrowing
of the trade deficit during
the month. Growth in
imports fell by an almost
negligible 0.13%.
