Freight specialist recruitment company Lee Botti & Associates is calling on freight companies to join its initiative to assist matriculants living in the Cape townships in preparing themselves for the job market. With over 30 years of experience in interviewing candidates for positions in freight, the recruitment company is now passing on what it has learnt to firsttime job seekers. The company runs a series of workshops at the Iziko Maritime Centre in the Cape Town Waterfront. Known as the iThuba Project, the sought-after course has attracted over 920 matriculants. The Maritime Centre is in the old Union Castle building which also houses the John H Marsh Maritime Research Centre. The children break from the workshops to look at the models and are given a short introduction to the role of ships and shipping in South Africa. Freight companies willing to contribute toward a charter coach once a month to transport the children from their school to the Waterfront should contact Lee Botti at leeb@nowjobs. co.za . Access to the workshop updates can be found on www.facebook.com /ithubaproject CAPTION 1 Lee Botti gives an attentive audience of school-leavers some tips on how to present themselves when they go out for their first job interview. CAPTION 2 Thys van der Merwe from Iziko Maritime Centre gives the children a run-down on the Cape Town Castle.
