TNPA addresses skills training

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has embarked on an intensive drive to identify critical skills shortages in order to find solutions. “The first step towards improving skills is determining what is lacking in the organisation,” Nico Walters, TNPA general manager strategy told FTW. “Through this process we will be able to see what our needs are and will then put in place a training programme that will allow us to increase our skills levels.” He said TNPA was also heavily involved with the Port Management Association of African Ports as it was important to extend the skills into Africa.
