Nompelo Ndzimela THAILAND WILL showcase its products and services to South African business at the fourth annual Thailand Exhibition 2004 to be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from August 17-19. The event coincides with the eleventh anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During that period bilateral trade increased to US$651m (R3.9 bn) last year, a 15% increase over 2002. Thai exports to SA increased 13% last year, reaching US$377m (R2.3bn) from 2002’s US$334m (R2bn). Imports from SA amounted to US274m (R1.7bn) compared to US232m (R1.4bn) in 2002. Thailand imported iron, steel, precious stones, aluminium, metal, copper, wood pulp and copper articles from SA while it exported rice, vehicles, machinery, hides, skins and electrical machinery.
