15:30 CAT 25.6.2025 – President Donald Trump lapsed into profanity while addressing reporters about Tuesday’s missile strikes between Israel and Iran following a ceasefire agreement.
Speaking at the White House on 24 June before departing for a NATO summit, Trump expressed frustration over the ceasefire violations by both countries.
He said: "We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the (….) they're doing."
Trump criticised both Israel and Iran for continuing attacks despite the truce.
The missile exchanges after the ceasefire reportedly resulted in four deaths in Beersheba, Israel, and nine in Tehran, Iran.
It also caused immediate reverberations through international markets, especially after the earlier announcement of the ceasefire.
The missile strikes occurred despite the ceasefire agreement, which was announced by Trump on Monday.
Immediately after, both sides accused each other of violating the truce.
Israel accused Iran of launching missiles into its airspace after the ceasefire was supposed to come into effect, while Iran denied these accusations.
In a rare sign of picking Iran’s side, Trump indicated that the missile fire which provoked Israeli retaliation was a mistake.
He castigated the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reacting so forcefully, saying it’s the largest number of bombs they had dropped on Iran since the conflict started on 13 June.
