Tenth maritime conference comes to Jo’burg

ACCELERATED ECONOMIC growth and the South African Maritime Industry is the theme of the tenth National Maritime Conference and Exhibition to be held for the first time in Johannesburg next year. Scheduled for April 18-19, 2007 at the Sandton Convention Centre, the event will examine the state’s role in South Africa’s maritime supply chains with particular focus on what has been achieved through public-private partnerships. Legislation and regulation, job creation and training, and risk management are among the issues to be covered. A heavy-weight line-up of speakers is currently being assembled, says conference organiser Dr Henriette van Niekerk. Details will be released later this year.
