The caption to an infographic released recently by Dadaviz, a curated, YouTube-style distribution platform for data visualisations, states that over 90% of the world’s trade is carried by sea.
And, as of May 25, 10 companies had 64.8% of the world’s liner fleet in TEU terms.
They were Maersk with 15.3%; MSC (13.1%); CMA CGM (9%); Hapag Lloyd (5%); Evergreen (4.9%); Cosco (4.4%); CSCL (3.6%); Hanjin (3.3%); MOL (3.2%); and Hamburg Sud (3%).
