MPS Terminal, a publicprivate
partnership by
Bolloré Africa Logistics,
has taken delivery of nine
gantry cranes at the Tema
Port container terminal in
Ghana.
The cranes are capable of
recognising each container’s
position in real time and
can lift up to 40 tonnes,
says Mohamed Samara,
CEO at MPS Terminal.
“Once the cranes are up and
running, the terminal will
be able to unload ships at a
faster pace and benefit from
25% more storage capacity,”
he added. MPS Terminal
has already initiated a
training programme for
port personnel to learn how
to operate these new cranes.
“Through this capital
investment we’re
demonstrating the
commitment made by
MPS Terminal and
Bolloré Africa Logistics
to develop the Tema Port
and Ghana as a whole.
We’re pulling out all the
stops to ensure the country
continues to enjoy positive
growth and quickly becomes
an economic development
model for Africa,” said
Samara.
