Customers are increasingly
demanding more from
their third party logistics
service providers, including
customisation and
personalisation, says Anthea
van Breemen of Macro 2000.
“When receiving stock
into the warehouse, the most
efficient way to work is to allow
the system to automatically
create pallet numbers and to
automatically allocate the next
available location and print a
bar-coded pallet label,” Van
Breemen explains.
But, she adds, there are so
many unknown variables.
“What if a customer’s stock
is already palletised and they
have their own pallet numbers?
What if the customer wants the
logistics provider to scan their
own bar code labels as opposed
to creating one? What if one
customer has serial number
tracking while the others do
not? How do you do quick,
efficient stock takes?”
Without the right
technology all these variables
and unknowns become an
impossible task, notes Van
Breemen, pointing out that
the Macro 2000 system allows
customers to set options to
allow for any possibilities.
“With more than 30 years’
experience Macro 2000 is
able to provide the necessary
software systems to improve
operational efficiency,” she says.
