Talk will soon be much cheaper

ED RICHARDSON THE LOGISTICS industry, with its growing reliance on electronic data interchange (EDI), is set to be one of the winners from steps to deregulate the telecommunications industry announced by communications minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri recently. Communication costs are expected to drop as both companies and service providers will be permitted to use their data networks for voice communications. This means that a multi-national company with branches throughout South Africa and the world will legally be able to use its data network to make telephone calls within the company.
