AS PART of the on-going battle for Sino SA supremacy and politico economic acceptance by the SA government, the Taiwanese arrive here next week in some strength to put their case before Pretoria.
Vice-premier Hsu Li Teh is due to be leading a team of heavyweight goverment and business leaders around the country, promoting greater co-operation between the two nations. Economic, agricultural and foreign affairs officials are on the Taiwan-boosting trip, accompanied by senior executives of some of the island state's leading state and private enterprises.
This comes at a time when the always cosy up-to-now relationship between SA and the Chinese break-away province of Taiwan appears threatened, as increasingly friendly noises are being made between SA authorities and their counterparts in the government and diplomatic corps of the Peoples Republic of China.
