As Gauteng modernises its
technology and speeds up
internet capabilities, software
company, Advanced Customs
Solutions (ACS), has upgraded its
freight system to offer a solution
that suits the different types of
technology implementations.
“The company, which
specialises in customs and
electronic data interchange (EDI)
software solutions for the
South African freight
industry, now offers
solutions that
can be moulded
exactly to client
specifications –
whether through
cloud technology,
local domains
or as customised
clearing and forwarding
software,” said managing
director Darryl Greef.
He told FTW that technological
advancements, such as the South
Africa Revenue Service (Sars)
modernisation initiative – which
has enabled speedier customs
clearance – have also brought
their share of challenges.
“Users of the modernisation
systems often lack the knowledge
and understanding to fully utilise
them, which then results in noncompliance
with the Customs
Act,” he said, pointing out that
this then caused delays within
the supply chain – thus having
the opposite effect of a speedy
clearance.
“Our systems, which are very
simple to use, help customers
stay compliant and it gives them
transparency around the
speed and movement of
their goods through
software solutions
via online web
tracking and our
global systems
which connect
every stakeholder
within the logistics
chain on one simple
platform,” Greef said.
He added that systems
integration was another
important function that ACS
provided to its clients. “Due to our
advanced system architecture,
we integrate into any third
party customer relationship
management (CRM) and
accounting software system which
allows for accurate reporting,”
Greef pointed out.
