System rewrite creates ‘truly web-based solution’

The trend toward seamless trade and the 4th industrial revolution, all fuelled by the pace of technology sweeping the globe, has prompted a rewrite of Easyclear’s existing Windowsbased hosted solution. According to sales manager Michael Henning, the company now has a truly web-based solution hosted in the Microsoft Azure environment.
Software as a service (SaaS), or Easyclear Web as it is more commonly referred to, is the most recently launched and now marketable product of the business, according to Henning. It includes RCG Cargo reporting for the supply chain. “This is important since most software service providers have focused primarily on the clearing
and forwarding sector whereas we accommodate all cargo reporters in the supply chain within our web-based solution,” he explained. “Opportunities abound for software service providers willing to embrace change and set trends,” he said. One such growing trend was blockchain. “It is the new buzzword and already there are projects under way piloting and adopting blockchain solutions in the supply chain,” said Henning. “I anticipate B2B and C2C integration and solutions that enable seamless flow of data to facilitate trade
and provide transparency of transactions between partners in the supply chain.” One of the biggest challenges in Africa, however, is still the communications infrastructure although this was being addressed at a fast pace. “This will soon be something of the past. The not so obvious challenge is integration where there are multiple platforms and third parties that need to understand, agree and communicate with one another before B2B or C2C or blockchain communications can take place.”
