Ray Smuts IN AN unexpected move, Cape Town container terminal manager Ian Bouwer has resigned and will be joining another former port authority executive Malcolm Green at Universal Product Networks. Bouwer confirmed his departure to FTW on Monday morning but was reluctant to go into detail apart from saying he would be joining Universal on June 1 to take charge of the organisation’s supply chain for Africa. Commenting on the resignation, Barry New, MD of P&O Nedlloyd SA, had this to say: “Whoever they (Sapo) replace him with has a fairly major task in dealing with vessel delays.” l Malcolm Green was port operations manager in Cape Town for several years and now heads a huge organisation that acts as supply chain service provider for the entire Woolworths Group.
