Study into port costs under way

Claims that South African ports are some of the most expensive in the world are being addressed by a study commissioned by TNPA, CEO Tau Morwe said last week. “This study is taking an in-depth look at port costs and what the various issues are. Once it is complete we will be in a position to address the needs and take it further from there.” But, said Morwe, it was important in the debate on costs to remember that the South African government did not fund any infrastructure development at its ports unlike many other countries.
