DIAMOND SHIPPING have been appointed general agents for the Stinnes Line (H Stinnes Linien of Hamburg) service between SA and the UK/NWC/Scandinavia.
According to Diamond director Richard Brook-Hart, the agency agreement is effective from July 1. This will match the arrival in Cape Town on July 5 of the MSC Corinna Voyage 10A, and the MSC Nuria's Voyage 14R from Durban etd July 9.
We are putting determined marketing behind this Stinnes service, said Brook-Hart. Shippers can contact Diamond's offices in Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg.
The appointment of Diamond Shipping follows the previous arrangement for the Stinnes' service, where the weekly slot-charter agreement with MSC was arranged alongside MSC acting as general agents.
A possible conflict of interest was recognised in this arrangement, said Brook-Hart. This led to Stinnes looking for a liner agent in SA with the necessary supportive infrastructure, and with the ability to take on the challenge of expanding the line's business in this country.
Tracy van Heerden has been appointed line manager.
