The monthly Transport Forum, of which FTW is a sponsor, made history this month when it was staged for the first time at the University of Stellenbosch. First launched six years ago by state-owned enterprise arivia.kom, which has since been bought out by T-Systems, the aim of the forum is to connect role-players within the transport industry. With attendees ranging from senior business management to government and academic institutions, the Transport Forum drew a full house in Stellenbosch. “The forum has grown tremendously in recent years,” said organiser Harry van Huysteen. “It is a highly representative and nationally recognised platform for thought leadership by organisations and individuals who are active in the transport and logistics industry.” With credible speakers discussing transport-related themes of national relevance, this networking event is set to visit the Western Cape, and possibly other provinces more often. “It really is an ideal opportunity for academics, practitioners and government to meet and share knowledge and ideas,” said Van Huysteen. “The forum stepped in and filled a gaping hole in the transport industry and now gives exposure to its delegates and participants to share in the latest research and development, to network, and to debate topics that influence and impact on transport and logistics.”
