Steady increase in volumes month on month

When the initial lockdown started in March 2020, we had no idea what was going to transpire. Straight into lockdown we secured some decent PPE shipments from China which kept us going in the very short term, and aided by some essential products, our airfreight exports also kept ticking over. By the end of May we were all back in the office and it was business as usual. Our volumes increased steadily every month to a point where we started recording record months in terms of volumes. We credit our growth during the second half of last year to our service levels that we offered by having a full complement of staff. With much uncertainty at the time we could not have achieved what we did without our dedicated staff who ensured we offered the best possible service. Each of our staff members contributed towards our success. We also had to work with our customers with regard to payment of their accounts to us as some of them literally stopped trading but still had commitments. We were fortunate not to have taken any big losses during this period. We have definitely upped our service levels in a very competitive market. We continuously monitor our turnaround times with the company to ensure that our customers are getting the service that they require. Vernon Lines, managing director, Groupair
