SPOORNET’S COAL line has been breaking records on a regular basis. “In July last year we were moving an average 1.1mt of coal a week,” Spoornet CEO Siyabonga Gama told FTW. “Last week we moved 1.45mt of coal with existing equipment by re-engineering the business process through collaboration with the mining houses.” The target is to move 1.6mt a week in the next three to four months with 80% of trains departing on time, he said.
