Speed matches reach with stacker delivery

The EIE Group’s port handling division has handed over a reach stacker to APM Terminals Southern Africa – only two months after the contract was placed. According to a statement by EIE, the Konecranes 4531 TCE5 reach stacker has a powerful engine, strong frame and mast, and it comes with load-sensing hydraulics. This provides the ability to lift containers of up to 45 tonnes on the first row, and up to 31 tonnes on the second.
“These reach stackers have one of the best cabins in the market with regard to space and visibility and contain smart innovative features which increase productivity and safety while driving down running costs,” the statement said. Ordered on a full rental for 60 months including maintenance, and deployed at an APM terminal in Durban, the stacker is also renowned for its heavy-duty
box-type chassis. The chassis are considered to be one of the strongest on the market, while the excellent stability is provided by a wide, strong drive axle and long wheelbase for safe lifting of heavy loads. “APM Terminals and EIE Group have enjoyed a special and long-term relationship, one which we hope will continue to grow and flourish,” said Gary Neubert, EIE Group CEO. “Our back-up service and our ability to speedily supply equipment were certainly important in winning us this contract in a very competitive environment, and we intend to continue to focus on outstanding client service, in line with our commitment to building partnerships for life.”
