Spate of armed robberies of warehouses in Gauteng

Freight forwarders and clearing agents in Gauteng have been put on the alert by the SA Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff) to growing numbers of armed robberies currently taking place in the province.

“There has recently been a spate of armed robberies within the industry specifically taking place over weekends,” said a Saaff communication, “where armed intruders are going for cargo in the warehouses.”

And, unfortunately the numbers of armed robbers in gangs are not just in the middle level single-digit range. But said Saaff, by up to 15 armed intruders at a time.

“It may be a time to re-visit security measures and specifically for weekends,” the association added.
