Smartphones to detect freshness of fruit and veg?

Assessing the freshness of fruit and vegetables could soon be as easy as consulting your Smartphone.

According to a report in online news site freshplaza.com, Smartphones could soon be fitted with tiny sensors to help shoppers detect the freshness of fruit and vegetables on the spot.

The new miniature sensor technology, which could hit the market fairly soon, is able to analyse anything from crop quality to the maturity of fresh produce and can be used by shoppers in-store as a guide to what to buy and when.
