Danish freight forwarder Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has announced plans to expand its South American reach with the acquisition of Blu Logistics Brasil Transportes Internacionais.

SGL has signed a letter of intent to acquire the São Paulo freight forwarder in a move that will establish a strategic foothold for SGL in the Brazilian market.

The acquisition is part of SGL's broader global expansion strategy, as the fast-growing freight forwarder looks to strengthen its international reach and capabilities.

Blu Logistics is a well-established logistics provider in Brazil, offering a range of services including freight forwarding, customs clearance and supply chain management.

The company's expertise and local market knowledge are expected to complement SGL's existing operations and allow the combined entity to better serve customers in the region.

"Scan Global Logistics' growth journey continues with the acquisition of Blu Logistics Brasil," the company stated on its website.

The latest expansion news follows SGL's previous strategic moves to expand its global footprint, including acquisitions and partnerships in other key markets.

The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, but is expected to be finalised in the coming months.

Once completed, the combined company will leverage its enhanced capabilities and resources to provide comprehensive logistics solutions to customers in Brazil and across Latin America.
