Sena Railway upgrade now 75% complete

The upgrade of the Sena railway line – intended to increase its coal-carrying capacity from the current 6.5 million tonnes to 20m a year - is now getting closer to completion.

The work on the 575 kilometre line, from the port of Beira to the coal town of Moatize in Tete province started in 2013.

And, according to the Mozambique daily, Notícias, the works are now 75% complete and will be finished before the year’s end.

Admittedly, at the beginning of January, FTWO carried official words from Moz authorities that the line would be finished that first quarter.
