Seminar will facilitate access to UN contracts

A SEMINAR AIMED at providing South Africans with the necessary tools and information to gain access to UN procurement contracts will be held at JCC House, Milpark on Monday, June 19.
The event will also enable local suppliers to present their products directly to the UN Agencies.
The top level delegation will include Andrew Toh, chief of the UN Procurement Division, New York; Lars Kolver, head of the UN Office of Procurement Services, Copenhagen; Jack Kuelemans, head of the World Food Programme Procurement Services; and Miko Lainejoki, contracts officer of the UN Childrens Fund.
The United Nations, including its many affiliate agencies, constitutes a vast potential market for the suppliers of a variety of products ranging from food stuffs to motor vehicles and parts and electronic equipment. During 1998 UN procurement of goods and services worldwide amounted to US$3 billion. UN organisations and agencies are required to identify new sources of supply, particularly from developing countries, to create a more equitable distribution of sources.
