When it comes to bar code printing, the slightest imperfection can impede the scanning process. Which is why security sealing specialist Vikela Aluvin (Aluvin) has installed a high speed state-of-the-art thermal transfer printer, the first of its kind in Africa. “The machine is able to print the highest quality logos, numbers and barcodes,” says Aluvin MD Kevin Norwitz, “and together with our principal, ITW Envopak, a handling system has been developed enabling it to print very efficiently on any of Aluvin’s products.” While clear and durable printing is a critical part of any security sealing system, it is especially important when it comes to barcode printing, says Norwitz, since even the slightest imperfection makes scanning very difficult. Barcodes are becoming increasingly important on security seals and more and more of Aluvin’s products incorporate this technology. The printer, which was recently installed and commissioned by ITW Envopak’s engineers, has been custom-tuned for Aluvin’s specific needs. All Aluvin’s local manufacture complies with its international partners’ quality standards which include ISO9001 and ISO17712. “Our strong international relationships ensure that we stay at the forefront of global security sealing trends, including initiatives such as C-TPAT and other sealing initiatives around the world,” said Norwitz.
