There is scope for growth in airfreight into Africa, particularly for general cargo, according to Stephen Bishop airfreight general manager of neutral groupage operator CFR Freight. He told FTW that CFR had seen an increase in requests for ‘freight-ondeck’ into the continent. “There is ample capacity to accommodate this so the growth potential is definitely there,” Bishop said, pointing out that as the aviation infrastructure on the continent improved, the airfreight industry would support this growth. He said technology continued to play a key role in increasing airfreight efficiencies. “We have invested a large amount of time into our WebCargoNet platform in recent years with further exciting developments launching shortly,” said Bishop.
