Sars withdraws Groblersbridge proposal

There’s been a stay of execution for clearing agents at Groblersbridge border post over the threatened closure of the border to non-SA Customs Union entries. In a memo distributed last week, branch manager Thembi Vilakazi confirmed that the proposal had been withdrawn for now. “Once a final decision has been made details will be communicated timeously in order for all affected parties to make the necessary adjustments,” he said. While agents are relieved at the stay of execution, the fact that the issue is being reviewed implies a temporary withdrawal. It’s now a question of wait and see.
