Tax forms and supporting documents a possibility

THE SOUTH African Revenue Service is investigating the possibility of the electronic transmission of information for its clients.
To ascertain whether such a service would be favourably received and utilised by tax payers, the SARS is conducting a survey on SARS Online.
Various services will become available pending the outcome of this survey.
Under investigation is the ability of the SARS to: issue and receive tax forms and supporting documents electronically; to request and receive correspondence electronically; to receive payments and issue receipts electronically; make available standard SARS forms on SARS Online (www.sars.gov.za) thereby allowing the electronic registration in respect of taxes amongst others.
The taxes included are customs, excise, income tax, value-added and employees' tax.
The SARS has assured all taxpayers that all views will be taken into account.
Electronic feedback may be submitted via the SARS Online Web site www.sars.gov.za or e-mailed to mwelgemoed@ptar4.sars.gov.za . Telephonic or written comments may
be addressed to Michelle Welgemoed, P.O. Box 402, Pretoria 0001.
