COMPU-CLEARING has acquired Clearway Systems for an undisclosed sum,
with Pedro da Costa, Robert Wright and Graham Schaffer of Clearway becoming directors of Compu-Clearing.
Clearway Systems, which was a competitor of ours, has proven itself to be a successful and efficient operator in their niche field, says Arnold Garber, Compu-Clearing c.e.o., who has also announced that all Clearway staff will be moving into Compu-Clearing premises in the near future.
While Compu-Clearing and Clearway Systems become one company, the systems of the two remain separated, says Garber. Clients will continue to have the choice of which system they wish to use. From now on individual components of the systems supplied by one of the organisations are available to be coupled with the systems from the other organisation.
For example, a client could use Compu-Clearing for airfreight exports, and Clearways for seafreight exports, or Clearways for import bill of entry and Compu-Clearing for accounting systems. The necessary bridges between the two will be built.
Compu-Clearing listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in November 1998 at an issue price of R1. It
is currently trading at
above R3.
Compu-Clearing will continue looking for synergistic acquisitions that can enhance shareholder value, and improve level of service to its customers, says Garber.
